With the Internet and social media, almost anyone can be your mentor. They don’t even need to know you exist. Just pick a person whose work you admire and follow them on the Internet. In the Mentor Focus series, I profile the people I follow online.
I first heard of Jason Zook years ago, when he was still known as Jason Sadler. I saw a news blurb about some kid who was wearing T-shirts for money. I didn’t think much of it. It’s just news.
Then in 2015, I was listening to The James Altucher Show and he was interviewing Jason about his latest crazy idea. He was selling his future. That is, every product he ever created and every product he ever will create. The price was $1,000. James Altucher bought in during the show. For most people including me, $1,000 is a huge investment. I mulled over the idea until the last minute, then clicked “Buy.” I was then the proud owner of a person’s future.
I had no regrets about buying Jason Zook’s future. He has a long track record of producing quality products and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. Even if you don’t own his future, he’s worth following. You can pick and choose his work a-la-carte. He is worth following at least for his insights into entrepreneurship and creativity.
