Having big earth-shattering goals is important. These are the towering “meaning of life” goals. They drive us and give us a reason to wake up each day.
The reason most people don’t pursue the big goals is that they appear too daunting. They are intimidating. They are simply too big to start. Pursuing the big goal is like writing a novel. In the beginning, you don’t know how to start.
However, once you break up the big goal into small goals, it looks much easier. Just write one page each day. You will have a 30-page chapter by the end of the month. You will finish your novel by the end of the year. Just one page a day. Now you can do this.
Setting small, short-term goals that move you towards a larger goal is the way to accomplish big things. Nobody can write a novel in a day, but anyone can write a novel if they have a plan.
