People who rob banks don’t understand money. Scammers don’t understand money. Lottery winners don’t understand money.
Here is the original concept of money: When you help someone, they give you something in return. Instead of accepting two goats in exchange, you might prefer to receive an “I owe you” note instead. This is money.
A dollar is a contract saying that you’re owed a small favor. Maybe you helped someone park their car, and they gave you a dollar. You can exchange that dollar for another small favor, like maybe a can of soda.
A thousand dollars is a contract saying that you’re owed a big favor. Maybe you let someone have your prized vintage guitar, and they gave you a thousand dollars for it. You can then exchange that thousand dollars for another big favor, like maybe to live in someone’s house for a week.
When you think of money with the correct mindset, you understand better how to make money. You earn money by helping people. The more people you help, the more money you make. The more you help someone, the more money you make.
You can help people in many ways. You can provide services. You can make stuff. You can entertain. You can teach.
As long as you make someone else’s day a little better, you will make money.
