Everyone wants to be wealthy and beautiful. It’s no coincidence that the most profitable niches in the self-help industry involve becoming rich and more attractive. There are hundreds, if not thousands of gurus online giving advice on how to make more money and look better. Whose advice should you take?
The best way is to find the ones who practice what they preach. The people who eat their own dog food.
For dieting/health/relationships gurus, it’s much easier to choose. Find the people with the body you want or the types of relationships you want. Make sure they created that body or relationship by following their own advice.
For financial advice, it’s trickier. Many financial gurus out there give advice, but they didn’t make their fortune in that way. Or maybe they made their fortune in the way they teach, but they currently make most of their money in some other way (like books and workshops).
Professionally, you are what you make the most money from. If you make most of your money from the stock market, you are an investor. If you make most of your money from home rentals, you are a real estate investor. If you make most of your money from a job at the police department, you are a police officer. Don’t take investing advice from someone who currently makes more money from writing than from investing. In other words, don’t take investing advice from a writer.
Here’s an idea. Anyone who gives financial advice should divulge where they make most of their money from.
